The School of Nursing offers a Post Licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

The Post Licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing takes either 18 (full-time track) or 27 (part-time track) months to complete from start to finish*.

Platt College only accepts qualified student from States and/or U.S. Territories in which the College is permitted to recruit and accept students. An otherwise qualified student who resides in a State and/or U.S. Territory in which Platt College is not permitted to accept students (due to State/U.S. Territory or US Department of Education policies) will not be admitted to Platt College regardless of qualifications. Students desiring to be admitted to The School of Nursing’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (Post Licensure Track) should be aware of all degree requirements which must be met to successfully complete the program and graduate. Platt College is committed to quality therefore requirements for the BSN program include completion of an on-site (in residence) orientation course, all required courses and two externship/practicum requirements. Degree requirements cannot be waived. Not all degree requirements can be completed online.
The Bachelor of Science (Post Licensure Track)
What is the difference between the Prelicensure Track and the Post Licensure Track?
- There is only one Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree offered at Platt College and all students meet the same degree requirements. How these requirements are met vary depending on whether the student is in the PrelicensureTrack or Post Licensure Track and what degree requirements have been met prior to beginning the respective track.The BSN Program (Prelicensure Track) is designed to complete the state requirements for eligibility to be licensed as a Registered Nurse and to simultaneously meet the baccalaureate degree requirements for the major in nursing.The BSN Program (Post Licensure Track) is designed to build on the foundation of an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) curriculum and RN licensure with course work needed to meet the baccalaureate degree requirements for the major in nursing.
How long does it take to complete the BSN (Post Licensure Track)?
- The full-time track takes 18 months to complete, while the part-time track takes 27 months to complete.

Is admission to this program competitive?
- Yes, admission to this program is competitive. The School of Nursing at Platt College accepts 15-20 students for each start.
Do any of the courses have a clinical component?
- Yes. The BSN program (Post Licensure Track) has two clinical components: NSG 382P Practicum, Nursing Care of the Community and NSG 451P Practicum, Nurses as Leaders.
The Post Licensure BSN tracks are offered via online. Will I ever be required to visit campus?
- Yes. You will be required to visit the campus located in Aurora, Colorado just one time, for an orientation at the start of the program and to complete NSG 151 Nursing Informatics course through the onground (face-to-face) format.
Will the grades that I earned in my associates or diploma nursing courses count into my GPA, when considering me for admission?
- According to step three of the admissions process, minimum verified cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above on 4.0 scale is required for admissions.
Can I receive course credit for the classes I took as part of my associates or diploma nursing degree?
- No. Students in the Post Licensure track must complete 86.5 quarter credit hours at Platt College.
What are the general education requirements for the BSN program (Post Licensure Track)? Do I have to complete all of these courses before I can enroll in the program?
- No. You must be a graduate from an institution recognized by the Department of Education and a nursing program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) ADN or Diploma Nursing Program.
Is there a time limit/expiration on completing the BSN program?
- Regardless of which track you enter, according to Policy 02:24:00 Satisfactory Academic Progress, students must complete their programs within a prescribed time frame. The maximum time frame is limited to 1.5 times the normal length of the program in duration or credit hours required to complete the program. Students who fail to complete their programs within the maximum time frame will be dismissed.
Can I change between the two tracks in the Post Licensure BSN program?
- You always have the option to slow down, but not speed up. You can change from the full-time (18 months) track to the part-time (27 months) track. However, you cannot change from the part-time (27 months) track to the full-time (18 months) track.
