COVID-19 Screening Protocol
The following questions are to be used daily by employees and students to self screen prior to arrive who come to campus. Note: this screening protocol is to be used as a self-reflective assessment to be considered prior to anyone entering the building.
- Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the past 14 days?
- Have you had a fever or felt feverish in the last 72 hours?
- Are you experiencing any new respiratory symptoms including a runny nose, sore throat, cough, or shortness of breath?
- Are you experiencing any new muscle aches or chills?
- Have you experienced any new change in your sense of taste or smell?
If an employee responds "yes" to any of the questions, they must refrain from going to campus or, if they are on campus already, they must leave campus immediately and contact their physician. The employee must also notify their supervisor that they will not be at work.
If a student responds "yes" to any of the questions, they must refrain from going to campus or, if they have already traveled to campus, they must leave campus immediately. Students should report their suspected illness via email to Associate Dean Jennifer Jones.

How can I obtain medical clearance that allows me to work and/or learn on site?
If the health screening tool indicated that you should not report to work or school, but you do not believe your symptoms are due to COVID-19, contact your health care provider to discuss. Until and unless your medical provider confirms that it is unlikely that you have COVID-19 and that your symptoms have another more likely explanation (i.e. allergies, muscle strain, etc.), you should not report to work or school and should follow the guidelines regarding sick employees or students. After consulting with your medical provider, documentation should be provided to your supervisor if you are an employee or to the Associate Dean if you are a student.
Who will be made aware of the information that people self submit through the five-question screening?
Information submitted through the screening questions will be treated as confidential information with only individuals on a need to know basis made aware.
What's the best process for employees and students subject to this process to conduct their health screening?
Before coming to work each day, or reporting for approved academic activities, employees and students should conduct a self assessment.
As a student, will I be penalized in my classes and/or clinicals/simulation if I suspect I have COVID or have been exposed?
No. You will be given time to test; the current testing and result period will be taken into consideration. Associate Dean Jen Jones will work with students to determine the best course of action pending official test results.
As an employee, will I lose paid time off if I suspect I have COVID or have been exposed to COVID?
No. You will be given PTO to test; the current testing and result period will be taken into consideration. You will need to produce official test results immediately after receiving them. If you test positive we will work with you individually. If you test negative but have some type of illness, you may take PTO to recover and return to work.
