Welcome & Introduction

  • Founded over 30 years ago though our Nursing Program began in 2005
  • Small class sizes of approximately 20 students
  • Three year BSN program
  • No pre-requisites required
  • Lab and Clinical hours
    • 840 Clinical hours and 210 lab hours completed in the program
  • Approximately 15 hours of classes a week resulting in an additional 30 hours of studying outside of the classroom.

Accreditation & Approvals

Platt College is an accredited member of the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).

The most recent accreditation decision made by the ACEN Board of Commissioners for the baccalaureate nursing program is continuing accreditation. 


Platt College is authorized by The Colorado Department of Higher Education.

The baccalaureate nursing program from the School of Nursing at Platt College is approved by the Colorado State Board of Nursing (June 22, 2005).

Clinical Experiences

Contracted Facilities & Clinical Sites where students complete clinical hours
Clinicals can occur during days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Clinical Scheduling Expectations

Released approximately 30 days in advance and begin in the 2nd quarter
Clinical demand increases throughout the program

Students are responsible for having reliable transportation
Student Clinical Compliance & Regulation Requirements

Simulation Lab

  • A care setting utilizing human simulation experience to create realistic, life- like scenarios where students engage in the practice of nursing skills and theory for the purpose of teaching and evaluating students
  • Conducted under the direction of qualified nursing Faculty
  • Safe and secure setting to learn
  • Community Health specific bay
  • Debriefing room with video and audio review available
  • Clinical hours can be completed within the lab

Typical Weekly Schedule

  • Class schedules are built around clinical schedules
  • Predetermined by the Registrar
  • Class schedule is released 30 days prior to the start of each quarter
  • Class can be held any day Monday through Friday, typically between the hours of 8:00AM and 6:00PM
  • Please reference the sample schedule for an idea of what a schedule might look like for our students.
  • 2-3 days a week depending on accepted transfer credits

 

Transfer Credit Guidelines

  • Must be completed at an accredited institution

General Education & Fundamental Science courses:

  • 10 years of the completion date “C” or higher

Nursing Courses:

  •  5 years of the completion date “B” or higher

Transfer credit is determined by the College Registrar in accordance with Policy 02:14:00 Transfer Credit

eCourse, eCombination & eCompanion

eCombination (blended)

  • ~10% of the program
  • 60% face-to-face/40% online

eCourse (online)

  • ~12% of program
  • Includes a few 1 - 2 credit nursing courses
  • Mostly gen eds

eCompanion (face-to-face)

  • Applicants will complete a Distance Education Self-Evaluation Questionnaire upon acceptance in order to determine if the applicant has the skills, competencies, and access to technology necessary to succeed in a distance education environment prior to his/her enrollment into the nursing program

  • Platt graduates can be found in every major health system in the Denver Metropolitan area & in several other states

Tuition

Current tuition and fees is easily disclosed on the College website.

Tuition is subject to change on a term basis.  Notification is provided to students forty-five (45) days prior to the effective date.
