Purpose: To ensure equal employment opportunity to employees and applicants for employment, and equal opportunity to students for enrollment. Platt College is committed to the goal of achieving equal opportunity for all and, in accordance with applicable Federal and State law and College policy, does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, pregnancy,* physical or mental disability, medical condition (cancer related or genetic characteristics), ancestry, marital status, age, sexual orientation, citizenship, or service in the uniformed services.** The College also prohibits sexual harassment in accordance with Policy 05:16:00 Racial and Sexual Harassment. This policy applies to faculty and staff, applicants for faculty and staff positions, students and potential applicants for the BSN program. *Pregnancy includes pregnancy, childbirth, and medical conditions related to pregnancy or childbirth. **Service in the uniformed services includes membership, application for membership, performance of service, application for service, or obligation for service in the uniformed services. |

Platt College will be a place of work and study for employees and students free of sexual harassment and/or harassment on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, race, color, religion, age, mental, or physical disability, veteran status or national origin. Harassment constitutes a form of discrimination. Harassment in the workplace or the educational environment is unacceptable conduct and will not be condoned. III. Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action, Title VI, and Title IX Administrators who oversee hiring practices at Platt College have a shared responsibility to make sure that Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA), Title VI and Title IX policies are being upheld. There is a shared responsibility for ensuring compliance with this policy and with all applicable laws and regulations, receiving and investigating complaints and appeals and making recommendations regarding their disposition to the President, reviewing the effectiveness of the EEO/AA program, and recommending improvements to the President. IV. Training and Education The Diversity Committee (a standing campus-wide committee) will ensure that annual EEO/AA training and awareness programs occur annually. The committee updates the Diversity Plan annually and presents it to the President and Board of Directors for approval. The chairperson of the committee reports directly to the President. V. Affirmative Action Statement for Publications The college’s affirmative action statement shall be included in publications and shall read as follows: Platt College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, medical condition (cancer related or genetic characteristics), ancestry, marital status, age, sexual orientation, citizenship, or service in the uniformed services in educational and employment opportunities, and is committed to the education of a non-racially identifiable student body.
