Policy 02:02:00 Curriculum Development and Revision

Revision Responsibility: Vice President of Academic Affairs

Policy:

I. Responsibility for the development and revision of the curriculum rests with the faculty.

II. The Vice President of Academic Affairs has responsibility for ensuring the curriculum is directly related to and appropriate to the mission and goals of the College and is in compliance with the requirements of appropriate agencies.

Procedures:

I. All new curriculum proposals and any proposals for substantial revisions to existing curricula are submitted to the Curriculum and Outcomes Committee, a permanent subcommittee of the Platt Faculty Organization (PFO) whose membership includes full and part-time faculty.  The PFO Chair also serves as the Chair of the Curriculum and Outcomes Committee unless otherwise agreed upon by the Dean, School of Nursing. 

II. Curriculum revision are developed by the Curriculum and Outcomes Committee and submitted to the Dean, School of Nursing and the Coordinator of Foundational Liberal Arts and Sciences. 

III. The proposals, along with recommendations for the approval or disapproval, are submitted to the Vice President of Academic Affairs who ensures that the changes meet state agency and accreditation standards.

IV. After all internal and expeternal approvals are received, the curriculum revisions and/or additions are forwarded to the Registrar for entry into the course inventory.

Created: July 29, 2009, Revised: January 17, 2011 to reflect revised organizational chart, December 1, 2012 to eliminate The School of Design, June 16, 2016 to change term of NFO to PFO, and to streamline the explanation of the proposal review process.
