Purpose: to implement a process that allows members of the same family or household to be employed at Platt College without placing them in a real or apparent conflict of interest regarding code of ethics.

Definition: For purposes of this procedure, "family or household member" means the employee's spouse, child or stepchild, ward of the employee or employee's spouse, parent of the employee or employee's spouse, brother or sister of the employee or employee's spouse, grandparent or grandchild of the employee or employee's spouse, nephew or niece of the employee or employee's spouse, brother-in-law or sister-in-law of the employee or employee's spouse, or other members of the employee's household whether or not related by blood or marriage.

Policy:

Members of the same family or household are eligible for employment at Platt College. In some circumstances, a direct supervisory relationship may exist between employees who are family or household members. Such circumstances require a checks and balance system in which a member from the department and/or related department will serve as a double check system to ensure policies and procedures are being followed with ethics and integrity. Any exceptions must be approved by the President.  Exceptions involving the President and President's family or household member must be approved by the Board of Directors.
