Technical Standards for the School of Nursing

The nursing program at Platt College has a responsibility to educate competent nurses to care for their patients (persons, families and/or communities) with critical judgment, broadly based knowledge, and well-honed technical skills. The nursing program has academic as well as technical standards that must be met by students in order to successfully progress in and graduate from its programs.

General Information for Applicants

Welcome & Introduction

  • Founded over 30 years ago though our Nursing Program began in 2005
  • Small class sizes of approximately 20 students
  • Three year BSN program
  • No pre-requisites required
  • Lab and Clinical hours
    • 840 Clinical hours and 210 lab hours completed in the program
  • Approximately 15 hours of classes a week resulting in an additional 30 hours of studying outside of the classroom.

BSN Admission Screening Tool for the School of Nursing

The School of Nursing at Platt College has a primary responsibility to the education of future professional nurses-a responsibility taken seriously by the Admissions Committee who is chareged with the selection of candidates who best demonstrate the academic achievement, emotional maturity, integrity, and motivation necessary for the successful study and practice of nursing.  The requirements listed below are necessary for consideration for admission.  Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.

Scholarship Opportunities

Platt College has partnered with the Colorado Nurses Foundation (CNF) who will facilitate the applications and awarding of the Joe Lee Memorial scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to one Platt College nursing student.
